Time Arithmetic

Practise adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing times with these self-marking exercises.

This is level 1: Addition. You will be awarded a trophy if you get at least 9 correct and you do this activity online.

For the first six questions type in your answers in hours and minutes using a colon to separate the hours and minutes for example 1:05 for one hour and five minutes.

Add 55 minutes and 40 minutes.

Add 31 minutes and 46 minutes.

Add 31 minutes and 38 minutes.

Add 1 hour and 40 minutes to 1 hour and 32 minutes.

Add 2 hours and 12 minutes to 3 hours and 28 minutes.

Add four hours and seven minutes to five hours and thirty eight minutes.

For the next six questions type in your answers using a colon and am or pm or using the twenty-four hour format using four digits and a colon like this 17:25 for 5:25pm and 08:15 for 8:15am.

Try your best to answer the questions above. Type your answers into the boxes provided leaving no spaces. As you work through the exercise regularly click the "check" button. If you have any wrong answers, do your best to do corrections but if there is anything you don't understand, please ask your teacher for help.

When you have got all of the questions correct you may want to print out this page and paste it into your exercise book. If you keep your work in an ePortfolio you could take a screen shot of your answers and paste that into your Maths file.
