It was very clear who won the race. It was the Scouts of course. When the race was over we all went back to the Scout hut and had some pancakes. We all had a great time.
Inter Youth Club Quiz
Wednesday 25th March
At about 7:30pm, David Onions, Philip Onions, Andrew Adey, Andrew Key, Stephen Hopkins, Robert Bood and Andrew Peek plus No. 2 congregated at R.A.F.T. youth club. Before the quiz started we spent a few minutes admiring pieces of art, which we all entered into a competition. However it was soon time to start and we took our seats.
It turned out that 37th Wolverhampton A side were in the first round, and so Andrew Adey, David Onions and Andrew Key got ready to face another youth club who included Neil Quinton. Unfortunately they lost 10-8 and so were effectively knocked out in the 1st round.
The rest of the first round continued and it turned out that most of the sides turned out to be alarmingly ignorant, and so our B side, Philip Onions, Stephen Hopkins and Robert Bood, had an easy passage into the 2nd round. The second round then ensued and once again Neil's side, King's Pin, and our B side had an easy passage. As the night passed on it appeared more and more obvious that these two teams were to meet in the final.
During the semi-finals one quite hilarious moment occurred. The question master asked the question "Who lives at number 77, Oaring Street?" The full repeat that number. The captain on one side immediately cried out "Darren, Margaret Thatcher!" He soon realised his mistake and turned bright red with embarrassment. The answer was of course Sir Geoffrey Howe.
However, as I have predicted, the two sides, King's Pin and 37th Wolverhampton B side, met in the final. It was a very close and tense competition but unfortunately we lost. The winners received a cup and some shields and the runners up received a chocolate egg each. On the whole a very exciting and enjoyable night. David Onions.
