Helping Hand

Sunday 5th October

On Sunday 5th October myself and Michael Peters, Jason Parker, David Evans, Michael O'Neill, Gary Williams, Andrew Johnston and Ian Walters of the 37th Wolverhampton troop went to West Park to serve refreshments to sponsored walkers, raising money for ACROSS, towards raising money for a Jumbulance, the cost of which is £150,000.

We did not raise money ourselves but provided refreshments of tea, coffee, squash and biscuits free of charge and we were very pleased to provide this service for a very worthy cause and the walkers, I'm sure, they appreciated it.

Skip has since received a letter of gratitude from Across thanking us for our service. Apart from the service already mentioned all the Scouts who attended had goes at pushing invalid people in wheel chairs around West Park, as it made it a little easier for the invalids to complete their laps.

I was also very pleased to see Paul Coffey, the man who had a heart transplant some months ago. He came into the Europa tent for refreshments. He looked very well and it was hard to believe he had a new heart.

In addition to my report I have enclosed a photograph of the Jumbulance. Across are hoping to receive enough money to get it. I wish them every success in raising enough money for such a wonderful cause, and I'm sure that every Scout who took part enjoyed providing the service and felt very proud.
