Friday morning began with breakfast and sandwich making. Breakfast was cereals, bacon, eggs and mushrooms. The expeditions were Mallard sailing and mining, Cormorant mining and sailing, Kingfisher Tintern expedition, and Seagull and Redshank Symonds Yat.
Seagull and Redshank went to Symonds Yat. We bought sweets from the shop and started down the hill to find the ferry, crossed the river and searched for caves. We got lost and took a long way to find them. We ate sandwiches and cake before finding the first hole. The way down was steep and rocky. Alan Jones hurt his leg, so we bandaged it and set off to find another hole. After exploring caves we started towards Monmouth, but split into two groups as some were taking a long time. We reached Monmouth Rowing Club, waited for the leaders and canoes, then canoed downstream through some white water. Everyone got wet, and back at camp there was a swimming session before the evening meal of corn beef hash and fruit cocktail.
After washing up, the APLs went to build bivouacs. After flagdown there was Necromania, a competition with several events including running, canoeing with candles on helmets, and a swimming race across the river. Alex Tingle finally won. Tuck shop was followed by supper of hot dogs and coffee. Some people stayed up to watch meteors and shooting stars.
