After our Backwoods lunch we met in the marquee and the idea was to go on a short hike. The route took us along the beach and then inland to a small town, Llanystumdwy. At this town we tried to find the grave of Lloyd George, who was brought up in the village. We were not successful and the museum was not open, so we headed back towards camp. On reaching camp we were all glad that our meal was ready. Before leaving on the hike we had prepared it and packed it into a box with blankets and paper to insulate it. The meal was haybox stew and instant whip.

Following our meal the troop was split into three and sent to different leaders for different activities. Our activity was rigging the Mirror dinghies. After this we had the traditional wide game called Shadowing. The leaders acted out silly things such as fishing, bullfighting and ringing. Paul Smith also pretended he was a scarecrow. Supper followed and then bed.

Wednesday morning everyone was up bright and early because today was our day trip to Butlin's. We began with grapefruit, sausages, tomatoes and scrambled eggs, then continued with flagbreak and inspection. At 10:30 the troop was split into two and taken to Butlin's. Everyone seemed to have a great day out. There were swimming pools, amusements, fairground, restaurants, and everyone had to buy their own lunch. At approximately 4:00pm the Scouts met at the gates and were transported back to camp.

Back at camp, after everyone had finished telling their tales of the day, each patrol began the evening meal of mixed grill and stewed apples and custard. After our meal we all fell in and were told the rules of a new game called Patball. Seagull won their group. The evening was then spent playing games in the marquee.

The weather was calming down, but strong gusts of wind shocked us. The older members were told to hold down the Europa and the patrols went to peg down their tents. Unfortunately our dining shelter was too bad and had to be taken down. The wind was incredible and the rain poured down. Windy Miller said it was the worst storm he had ever been in at camp. We were then told to go to bed and try to sleep.

On Thursday morning we checked our tents and tidied up after the storm. Breakfast was cereals, bacon, egg and mushrooms. After flagbreak and inspection, crazy sports were brought forward because the weather again proved too bad for boating. The crazy sports included welly wanging, football dribble, blindfold piggyback, balloon toss, marathon, three-legged race and much more.
