Summer Camp 1982 - Criccieth

14th-21st August

At 9:00am on Saturday morning, Scouts were busily loading the coach with personal gear and equipment. Most of the equipment had been loaded in the two vans hired for the week. One van was named Dog because of the registration and the other was named Cat for an obvious reason. As soon as the coach was packed the Scouts began to pile into the seats, the last farewells were said, and we were off to sunny Criccieth.

There were no leaders on the coach, so it was the PLs' responsibility to look after the Scouts. About twenty minutes later, the pennants were given out. After a long journey we finally reached Criccieth. As usual the lane was too narrow for the coach to fit down, so we had to walk. Some of the tents were already up because A. Bates and R. Bood had come down on Thursday. After the vans were unloaded and patrol sites were pitched, we raised the flag for the first time and had a tour of the site.

As the weather was not very good we did not go for a swim, and instead prepared and ate our first meal: pork chops, mixed vegetables, boiled potatoes, apple pie and custard. After our lovely meal and the dreaded washing up, we all met in the marquee and had our introduction to Summer Camp 1982.
