The Marathon
On the morning of 28th March 1982, the 37th Wolverhampton Sea Scouts set up a feeding station for the marathon runners.
We had to meet at the Prestwood Arms at 10:00 because that was where we were setting up the station. We had two tables. One had just water and the second table was filled with Staminade, which makes the runners carry on running. The tables were set out so that the runners ran past the Staminade table first and then the water table. People collected the cups afterwards.
The first runner came past our feeding station at 34:37 minutes and another 3,000 people came past our station. At 11:40 we started to pack away and if we saw any paper on the way home we had to pick it up. This is the end of the marathon feeding station. By Mr X.
