At 11:30 we went boating for the last time at camp, doing all the familiar activities of canoeing, sailing etc. After the boating had finished the Venture Scouts returned off of their Duke of Edinburgh hike to a lunch of beefburgers and fruit.

Once lunch was finished they donned their Venture shirts for only the second time and then the two minibuses headed off to leek. Whilst at leek the Scouts walked around buying food, presents and souvenirs. The Ventures however were too busy for this buying the food for the night's banquet and party.

The Ventures were dropped off at the party place on the way back to camp so that they would start to prepare for the party. The rest of the Scouts were kept busy until 7:30 when the party started, mainly by beginning to strike camp.

At 7:30pm the party finally began. Pass the Parcel was the first game and the winner of this not only won a lollipop but could also keep the orange which was in the parcel. Other games such as balloon-chair relay, dizzy relay, apple dunking were also played. A mastermind and two Ronnies sketch were performed by the ex-PLs and then the food was eaten.

After this No. 1 and Bosun did a This Is Your Life on all of the Ventures with some taped messages from home. We were all very embarrassed. Robert Bood had his hair cut, Andrew Adey got some mud thrown over him, and David Onions got some Jolly Big Juicy Biscuits thrown down his trousers. Andrew Adey also had a very revealing slide shown to him and one or two photographs were passed around as well.

As soon as the party had finished the Scouts went back to camp and the Ventures started to clear up with the help of Windy Miller, Bosun and No. 1. Then we all went to bed.

On Saturday morning we were all up early and began to strike the camp. This took most of the morning and at the end of it all we had the final flag down. The patrol points were added up and lo and behold Seagull had won. The patrol shield was presented to Andrew Denner and then the flag was taken down for the last time on one of my most memorable camps ever. Certainly it would not have been as enjoyable if the weather had not been so brilliant and if all the leaders had not been so dedicated. David Onions.
