After flag down and a supper of biscuits and cocoa, the leaders did a shadowing course. The leaders did such exciting things as making a cow singing and pretending to be in a public house. Patrol points were awarded and for the first time at this camp Seagull had been overtaken by Gannet. This meant that they lost the precious lock road on the flag, rather, for the first time.

After the shadowing, everyone went to bed with great excitement because Tuesday was the day trip to Alton Towers.

On Tuesday morning everybody was up very early, not only because it was Alton Towers day but also because there was a kit inspection. After inspection and a breakfast of grapefruit, sausages, tomatoes and scrambled eggs, everyone tidied up as quickly as possible in order to get to Alton Towers as soon as possible.

Unfortunately the yellow minibus would not start. A decision was made that the red minibus should push on and leave for Alton Towers. If then the yellow minibus had still not started the red one would come back and take the rest of the Scouts. Luckily, after only a few minutes of the red minibus, the yellow minibus started after a push. Soon then all of the Scouts were rushing around Alton Towers.

There was lots to do at Alton Towers, such as going on the Corkscrew, having a ride on the log flume, eating on the pirate ship, visiting the Cine 2000, Dino-Land, or you could just walk around the scenic gardens. Each Scout had to buy his own lunch and the majority of people visited the quick service restaurant, where deep fried chicken, cheeseburgers, chips and such rarities as deep fried apple sauce could be bought.

At exactly 4:00pm a great gang of Scouts gathered at the Corkscrew. It was the 37th who were all going to ride around the track with their hands high in the air. Slowly we moved up the queue and there we had a whole train more or less to ourselves. We started up the track to the cries of Ogi ogi ogi, and within a few minutes we were back at the finish and every single one of us had kept our hands high up in the air. What an achievement.

Shortly after completing this fantastic feat we set off for camp where we cooked the evening meal of corned beef hash, fruit salad and cream. By 9:00pm everybody had cleared up and eaten their meal and the National incident course began.
