Friday 21st - Saturday 22nd November
Midnight hike
After the Scout meeting on Friday 21st November those who wanted to go on the midnight hike stayed and got their bedding ready. The hike was organised by A. Quinton, A. Denner and A. Peek for their Chief Scouts Award.
The intrepid adventurers were split up into two groups, Daisy and Gertie. Gertie was captained by R. Bood and A. Bates. They set off at 22:00. The second group Daisy was captained by A. Adey. They left at 22:10 hours. The groups carried cards and directions to Bushbury Hill. Meanwhile the organisers sped off in the mini bus to Devil's Elbow. When Daisy and Gertie arrived at Bushbury Hill they were sent to Devil's Elbow.
As the Gertie team turned into Devil's Elbow they found their hill became a road accident. Andrew Peek had been knocked down by a car and the group had to treat him. Then off to Moseley Old Hall. R. Bood tried to give medicine to A. Peek in the form of a paracetamol, but failed miserably.
When the first group arrived at Moseley a cry for help came. A lunatic was stuck up a tree and the groups had to get him down in turn. Both groups managed this and so they set off for Essington. When they had nearly got to the top of the hill they met again a mind boggling puzzle. They all stood in a circle, then walked together into the centre. Then they all put their hands in the middle and grabbed hold of someone else's hand. Now for the hard part: they had to unravel themselves.
Afterwards they started off for their highlight of the evening. The soup point. But the organisers did not tell them of that easy. They had to help a mad professor with a canister of highly corrosive acid. They had to persuade him to get rid of them. The groups took it in turn with Gertie first. They thought they were safe, two down one to go, but they were wrong.
