PLs visit to the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean
On 16th April 1983 there were six PLs: Andrew Peek, Simon Terry, Peter Cheese, Mark Bood, John Trawler, Neal Quinton and Andy Bates. Mark, Peter and Simon met at the hut at 10am. When No. 1 arrived we departed from the hut at 10:05am with all our equipment. At 11:15am we arrived at a place called Symonds Yat. We walked along a path until we came to a ferry, crossed it, and went up the hill to some caves. The first cave was very good. The next was a little more difficult because we had to get up through the roof; Simon did not get through that cave.
After this we drove to the youth hostel where we would spend the night. When we got there we signed in and Mark Bood tried to find No. 1's cheque book. After paying we made up our bunks, had tea and watched Hi-De-Hi. We played snooker in the games room and then had tea. After supper we had soup and crisps. The next day we went to visit our campsite, then the PLs chose patrol camping areas. After this we went on a ramble.
