After dinner we made our way back to the Towers. When we got back we had to hand in our equipment, put some dubbin on our boots and hand them to the man in charge. At 4:30pm we had tea of cheesecake pie, salad and orange flan. After tea we washed up, packed our kit, put our rucksacks in the coach and began our journey home. By Stuart Farley.
Easter Camp 1983
On Wednesday 8th April at 5:30pm the Scouts brought down their kit and loaded it into Bosun's Land Rover and a minibus borrowed for the camp. The next morning at 9 o'clock we met again at the hut. We had been booked in with the exception that Ruth Gammon, who took a flying lesson while taking a shortcut, was rescued by Coxswain. We found our site on arrival, which was the Kiddiminster Scouts' camp site. We discovered we had a good view of the West Midlands Safari Park next door.
We were split into four patrols: Redshank, Cormorant, Mallard and Kingfisher, with No. 1, Bosun, Andy Bates and Robert Bood as leaders. After pitching the tents and eating packed lunches, we walked around the surrounding area. This took all afternoon to complete. During this it rained on us until we were completely soaked. In Bewdley I bought a fluorescent yellow tennis ball so we could play marbles when we got back to camp.
After returning we had a rest and then cooked hamburgers, mixed veg, mush and onion on the fire. After flagdown we had games, then went to the litter-pit roll.
