Blackwell Court Camp
When we got to Blackwell Court we were shown where to sleep and where the WC was. Then we had some soup, cheese and crackers. After breakfast in the morning we had our wash and went for a walk. On the way back we found a dead fox. At night we played a game outside in the dark. If No. 1 or Bosun hit you with a torch beam, you had to stand between some chairs waiting to be freed.
The next morning we could buy things from the tuck shop. Then we did different challenges and a kind of nature trail. After that we played bloodhounds, where two boys went out and we had to find them. When we found them, two boys had to tell No. 1 and someone had to hurt themselves. When No. 1 came out we pelted him with snowballs. In the afternoon we went for a big walk. At night we had our party and played a game outside. The next day we packed up and left everywhere tidy. We all enjoyed ourselves at Blackwell Court. Glyn Horner.
The Pancake Race No. 4
Tuesday February 14th
It was time for our annual pancake race, which the Scouts were winning 2-1. The Guides and Scouts were numbered 1 to 15. Each Scout and Guide had to run one leg of the race, except Paul Burns and Michael Peters, who had to run two legs because there were more Scouts than Guides. I was number 11. It started at 10:10 and took the Scouts 13 minutes 15 seconds to go from the Scout hut to St Thomas's and back. The Guides took a bit longer. After the race we had pancakes and I was given this book to write up about the great Pancake Race.
