Shortly after passing under Fladbury Bridge we arrived at
18.00 Fladbury Lock and 998461 4 1/4 coiled in the towing line. Before negotiating the lock we had a quick row round the weir basin to get some idea of the strength of the water flow. We found this to be quite considerable on the inside of the bend and it was only by pulling as hard as we could that we managed to make any progress.
