Life jackets are very important. They must be of a reliable manufacture and also conform to B.S.I. c.f. Which Report.
Hiking and Cruising
Current Boat Certificate is important from legal and insurance point of view.
Hiking
Should be treated progressively and the boy not introduced straight into the 8 mile hike for 2nd Class.
Bear in mind the objective and try to include something of a nautical flavour eg. Exploring river or canal.
