Exam-Style Question on Statistics
A mathematics exam-style question with a worked solution that can be revealed gradually
Question id: 366. This question is similar to one that appeared on an IB Standard paper in 2018. The use of a calculator is not allowed.
A data set has \(n\) items. The sum of the items is 650, the mean is 13 and the standard deviation is 5.
(a) Find n.
If each value in the set is multiplied by 7:
(b) Write down the value of the new mean;
(c) Find the value of the new variance.
