  • Joanne,
  •
  • Could Anyone help me please, I have been reading all comments and found that many people are referring to extentions but I dont know where to find these. I am also wondering is there any answers to these, as I am always in a rush to get classes sorted and have no time to work these puzzles out!
  • Transum,
  •
  • Dear Joanne, only some of the starters have suggested extension activities but most have answers. They can be found by scrolling down the page for those who have a Transum subscription. If you would like another word sum like this one you can find it at Word Differrence, the 13th August Starter of the Day or at Rock and Roll, the 13th December Starter of the Day.

[Update: Now all Starters have extension activities. The links to them are lower down the page]
  • Mr Sim's 2j Class, Elgin Academy
  •
  • We got 4659+4659+4659=13977.
  • Nicole, Cambodia
  •
  • I think there's more than 1 answer. It can be:
    4659+4659+4659=13977
    or 3659+3659+3659=10977
    or 8237+8237+8237=24711.
  • Mr Corben, 5C
  •
  • 7659 works for us in SFBS, Korea
    5C rock.
  • Class 6A, London, England
  •
  • Unfortunately 8237+8237+8237=24711 uses both T and O as 2.
Most "of the time three" will end 977.
  • Joshua Saye, Castle Rock High School, Coalville
  •
  • Lucy B from my Year 7C maths class got 6237+6237+6237=18711. A great effort in a short amount of time!
  • Senior Class, Mullagh National School
  •
  • Our answer is 3659 * 3 which is 10,077.
  • Transum,
  • Saturday, November 2, 2024
  • Here's another one you can try:

          ABC
          ABC
        + ABC
        = CCC

Teacher, do your students have access to computers such as tablets, iPads or Laptops?  This page was really designed for projection on a whiteboard but if you really want the students to have access to it here is a concise URL for a version of this page without the comments:

However it would be better to assign one of the student interactive activities below.

Here is the URL which will take them to today's student activity.
