  • Bernadette Summers,
  •
  • I like this and so did my pupils, extremely good idea.
  • The Best Maths Class Ever 7cd/M2, King Alfred's College, Oxfordshire
  •
  • Too simple. Just 24 multiplication questions that everyone could do upsidedown... No offence intended cos we love your website really.
  • Murran, Oxfordshire
  •
  • Not the best starter ever!
    Too simple!
  • Y6, Tickhill St. Mary's
  •
  • We liked this: it wasn't too hard.
  • Beth, NB
  •
  • Excellent warm-up when you don't allow paper. How far can they go mentally...that's how I used it.
  • Cameron, Y6 Charnwood Primary, Lichfield
  •
  • It was a good warm up to get the class ready for harder times tables.
  • Transum,
  •
  • Undoubtedly this starter will be tackled by different classes in different ways depending on their abilities. For some it will be quite a challenge but more able pupils could treat it as a gentle warm up before the main part of the lesson begins. There is nothing wrong with a gentle warm up, athletes do it often. It does not create stress but allows the individual to enter the right frame of mind for the delights of the lesson to come. Don’t forget to refresh the page to see a new of numbers generated randomly allowing this starter to be used with the same group on more than one occasion.
  • Sue, Sydney
  •
  • Good, simple starter. Can we have a more positive dog pic next time?

Teacher, do your students have access to computers such as tablets, iPads or Laptops?  This page was really designed for projection on a whiteboard but if you really want the students to have access to it here is a concise URL for a version of this page without the comments:

However it would be better to assign one of the student interactive activities below.

Here is the URL which will take them to a related student activity.
