Yes this is a very strange game. "It" is the number in the circle. Students obey the instructions given.

The small button at the bottom right of the red panel will give a new number.

  • S1E, BELMONT ACADEMY

  • Brilliant game says Nathen S1. In general, class really enjoyed this starter, it was unusual and made them think.
  • Zara, Belmont Academy
  •
  • Extremely fun and enjoyable. We enjoyed the humming and the standing up. Would love to see more of these!
  • Mike Moon, Royds School, Leeds UK
  •
  • I used this with a weak year 10 group who actually enjoyed what they were doing! and one or two even smiled for the first time in a maths lesson
  • Miss Dickson, Braes High School
  •
  • The game was excellent! The only thing that would make it better would be if the numbers changed on a timed basis, rather than having to click each time.
  • Martyn, Bed
  •
  • Not tried it yet (except with myself), but..... looks like something that could be used to encourage certain conclusions from students, eg.
What things did you do at the same time? What things did you never do at the same time? (this drawing out the facts that primes are never squares or multiple of 4, etc....

Laptops In Lessons

Teacher, do your students have access to computers such as tablets, iPads or Laptops?  This page was really designed for projection on a whiteboard but if you really want the students to have access to it here is a concise URL for a version of this page without the comments:

Transum.org/go/?Start=March29

However it would be better to assign one of the student interactive activities below.

Laptops In Lessons

Here is the URL which will take them to a fast-reaction game based on the properties of numbers.
