When the two sides changed roles, David Ashton and I hid in the grass. We were caught, and someone walked past us and captured the flag. As they were walking back we jumped out and found it was Andrew Peek and Michael Peters.
When we got back to the marquee and were eating supper, Bosun told us the leaders had caught a lobster by following the Windy Miller Camp Ingenuity Competition instructions. After a PLs meeting we went to bed.
Friday morning we were allowed another official lie-in. At 9:30 we finally began to wake up and cook breakfast, which included grapefruit and omelettes. After breakfast came flagbreak and inspection. At about 11:00 we invaded Criccieth on a shopping spree. All the Scouts split into groups and bought food, presents and souvenirs.
When we got back to camp we were given the task of cooking the evening meal of macaroni cheese and fruit. After the meal we were given instructions to strike camp early because the coach was due early in the morning. After taking down the patrol tents and packing one van, each patrol site was inspected and some valuable money was awarded. We played football in the next field and then met outside the marquee, where we had to make an advert for chicken. If we did not have an advert we were not allowed into the marquee for the banquet.
The banquet was the Scouts' treat because the leaders had organised it and had to cook the food. The menu included soup, melon, chicken, chocolate fondue, cider and much more. Finally, when the banquet came to an end, Bosun handed out money for each patrol. The winning patrol for Summer Camp 1982 was Seagull. After all the jeers and cheers, No. 1 took the Scouts on a small hike to wear them out. The PLs remained at camp and organised the sleeping in the marquee.
Early Saturday morning we were woken by No. 1's voice. We packed all our gear and had breakfast. After breakfast we were split into groups for duties. Mine was emptying the toilets. After duties we took the tents down and folded the equipment by the van. The Scout took their personal gear down the long track to the coach. Four of the PLs were taken back to camp to load the last van. After a long journey we arrived at the Scout hut before the coach. The camp turned out to be very enjoyable despite the weather.
