Anglo American Camp at Gilwell.

Tuesday 19th August.

On the morning of the above date, all the Scouts gathered on the Scout hut car-park at about 8:50am. Here we had to load all the camping equipment aboard the coach. After about a quarter of an hour the coach's boot and the back 5 rows of seats were loaded up. Then about 9:10am we all said our goodbyes and the Happy Times coach set off.

After about 2 hours travelling we stopped at a motorway cafe, where we all dismounted from the coach and raced towards the Space Invaders games. After half an hour we all embarked the coach.

We arrived at Gilwell camp site about 1:00pm. There we unloaded and the coach departed. Once we were there the patrols started pitching their camp sites. Once more we were lucky and caught some good old British sunshine. All the tents were erected and we had a short break, and then we went on a tour of Gilwell. By now Paul Cripps was gathering all the information about Gilwell as possible, you'll see why later.

We returned to our camp site for our evening meal, which was our first meal at this camp, and by now everyone was starving, so the meal went down well. After supper we had a mess-about and decided we would go for a swim in the pool. We all raced up to the pool and found that it was surprisingly warm. We had a good hour and half in the pool and then we had to return to the camp. Back at the camp we had a game of mazes, but that ended abruptly when Neal Quinton lost the ball.
