09.15 We pulled away after making sure that all our gear was covered over with waterproofs and very shortly arrived at Chadbury 021465 6 3/4 lock. Here we stopped and made a sketch of the lock and weir. We noted the excellent condition of the lock gates and on investigation found the reason was that the whole lock and gates had been rebuilt in 1952-53 by the Royal Engineers.
