This page is for a teacher to use to generate clues for a treasure hunt around school.
Edit the text in the boxes below to indicate the ten locations in your school, in order, that you will be using for this treasure hunt. I recommend having the first location as your classroom.
The clues for the treasure hunt have now been generated and are ready for this exciting activity with your class. Before you begin, please print this page. (These instructions will not appear on the printout.)
First, open Print Preview and adjust the margins and scaling so that each clue appears on a separate page. If possible, print in colour. Make sure the option to print background images is enabled; otherwise, the frames for the clues will not be printed.
The instructions at the bottom of each clue are editable. You may add any additional information or hints for your pupils before printing.
Next, position the printed clues in each of the chosen locations. The intended location for each clue is clearly shown at the top of the page. If you prefer, you can print multiple copies of a clue for certain locations, allowing pupils to write directly on them as they work.
It is recommended that pupils work in pairs or small groups to encourage collaboration and problem-solving.
The first clue uses prime numbers. Some pupils may find this challenging and might need a little guidance. This challenge, however, can be helpful as it naturally staggers the starting times for different groups and prevents the entire class from crowding around the same clue at once.
