Pass the Parcel Instructions:

Pass the Parcel is a classic party game that involves passing a wrapped parcel or gift around a circle of players while music plays. When the music stops, the player holding the parcel must unwrap a layer [possibly revealing a hidden prize, challenge or joke]. The game continues until the final layer is unwrapped, and the player who unwraps it wins the ultimate prize.

Basic Rules:

  1. Wrap a small gift or prize in layers of wrapping paper. Each layer can optionally contain a small item or a note with a fun challenge, joke or task.
  2. Gather a group of players in a circle, with one player chosen to start as the "parcel holder."
  3. Start playing music (using the green button above). The parcel holder begins passing the parcel to the person next to them while the music plays.
  4. When the music stops, the player holding the parcel at that moment must stop unwrapping and remove one layer of wrapping paper.
  5. As soon as the music resumes continue passing the parcel until all layers are unwrapped. The player who unwraps the final layer wins the central prize.

Variations:

  1. Hot Potato Parcel: In this version, players pass the parcel quickly while music plays. When the music stops, the player holding the parcel must unwrap a layer. The twist is that if the player finds the image af a potatoe in the wrapping they're out of the game.
  2. Challenges and Tasks: Instead of small prizes, each layer can contain a challenge or task for the player to complete before they can pass the parcel. Tasks can be funny, like singing a song or dancing, or they can be more competitive, like answering a trivia question.
  3. Multiple Parcels: Use several parcels and play multiple rounds simultaneously, so more players have a chance to win.
  4. Musical Chairs Combo: Combine Pass the Parcel with a game of musical chairs. When the music stops, the player with the parcel must unwrap a layer, but they also get a chance to sit in an empty chair. The player left standing without a chair is out.
  5. Maths Themed: Each layer contains contains a mathematical question, riddle or joke and the ultimate prize at the centre of the parcel is a calculator or mathematical book.

Remember to adapt the game to suit the age and preferences of your players, and most importantly, have fun playing "Pass the Parcel"!
