  • Jean Griffiths, Lawnswood School Leeds
  •
  • March 25th comes up as a blank sheet. '1' at the top alternating with '12345' at the bottom when I press the 'H'(?) button.
  • Transum,
  •
  • Sorry to hear that there's a problem Jean. It is probably because the Flash Player in your Internet browser has not been updated recently (version 8 is required). If your browser does not update itself you can download the latest version of the Flash player from the Adobe Web Site

In the meantime click here for a version of this starter only requiring version 6 of Flash Player.
  • Scarlett Rowe, Lawnswood School Leeds
  •
  • A very good source of maths activity! I recomend it to all the teachers out there.
  • The Best Maths Class 7cd/M2, King Alfred's College Oxfordshire
  •
  • Molly, Natasha, Patrick, Ryan, Jordii, one other, Louis got it right. Everyone else got a headache ! Really good challenge.
  • Mr Kel, Fulford School
  •
  • Starter could easily be developed into accurate construction of the nets of cubes/dices using compasses and rulers and actually having a go at making the cubes/dices.
  • Mr Edwards, Sheredes Set 2 Year 7
  •
  • Some of the group found this quite challenging, and others thought it was quite easy. Jack paris said 'a very good challenge and a good way to help with your nets'. Sydney said 'the cube part was easy but the die part was quite challenging. 'Sam said 'it was a brainteasing challenge but it was fun.'.
  • Mr Hill, Top Maths Group - BSCA
  •
  • Mr Hill's top maths group did really well - 6 of them got 100%.
  • Mrs. Boussouara's Math Class, Holyrood Secondary
  •
  • This game was a challenge , it was hard because we only had ten seconds but a few people got 100%, including me (Jon Wallace 1.13J).

Notes for Teacher: The five questions will show on an infinite loop (if you have Flash installed) so that it can be playing as the students enter the room. If there is any doubt about a net you can click the pause button then print out the net for cutting out and folding.

There is a printable worksheet to go with this activity.

Laptops In Lessons

Teacher, do your students have access to computers such as tablets, iPads or Laptops?  This page was really designed for projection on a whiteboard but if you really want the students to have access to it here is a concise URL for a version of this page without the comments:

However it would be better to assign one of the student interactive activities below.
