There are now extensive weather records for recent years available on the Internet. Students could find this data, organise it, apply their knowledge of probability and produce their own weather forecast for the next week.
As an example, this page contains raw CSV formatted weather logs for each month of data collected from the Fife Weather station. CSV files can be easily opened in popular spreadsheet packages such as Microsoft Excel or free Office suites such as OpenOffice.
The Weatherunderground website also provides historical data in CSV format. Here's today's weather data for Dudley. Scroll down the page to find the link to the CSV file.
