If you are to visit each plot once, follow the direction given in the square and finish in the centre, where should you start?
Assume north is up, west is to the left etc. Visiting a plot means landing on the square, not simply passing through it.

"We assumed that visit meant crossing a square but having looked at your solution we can see visit meant landing on a square. Perhaps slightly different wording could be used. My class had come to the conclusion it wasn't possible until we looked at the answer." J Barclay-Devine, Ashton Middle
"Thanks Ashton Middle School. We have changed the wording slightly as you suggested." Transum,
"Year 7, Set 9/10, figured out bottom right hand corner, I think it starts 4km W, and it has less steps than the solution" Mr Ali, Washwood Heath

Teacher, do your students have one to one
access to computers? Whether your students each have a TabletPC or share a desktop PC, this activity lends itself to eLearning (Engaged Learning). |

Students could make up a puzzle like this using a spreadsheet or a table in a word processor or desktop publisher.
