  • This is really no more than a classic ‘dividing a quantity in a given ratio’ question presented in a real life situation. Pupils skilled at doing this type of calculation will answer the question quickly but it is hoped that even the pupils that have not met ratio formally will be able to devise a method to arrive at the answer. An extension to this activity is to ask pupils to come up with a similar problem involving Uncle Dashy who has two nephews and a niece!
