• Transum,
•
• When the students have had 5 minutes to think of their words, they could all stand up behind their chairs. Going around the class, each student calls out a word they have found beginning with the given letter. A student who doesn’t have a word which hasn’t already been called out sits down. The last student to remain standing is the winner.
• Mrs Reeves, Dover Grammar School For Girls
•
• Today we did this at the Dover Grammar school for girls and what we did was we wrote down all the words in a list, then each pair of children used rock paper scissors to decide who should start.
the children who won would go against the other child to see who has the most in a way like this,
Wendy: multiply
and so on. the one who has the most faces another child ands so a winner is found, the winner faces the teacher! HAHAGAGAGAHAHAH

I had been tutoring the wonderful Betsy for five years. When the day came for our last ever session together before the end of her Year 13, I received this beautiful book as a gift of appreciation.

This a very readable book by Ben Orlin. I'm really enjoying the humour in the writing and the drawings are great.

Ben Orlin answers maths' three big questions: Why do I need to learn this? When am I ever going to use it? Why is it so hard? The answers come in various forms-cartoons, drawings, jokes, and the stories and insights of an empathetic teacher who believes that mathematics should belong to everyone.

Teacher, do your students have access to computers?Do they have iPads or Laptops in Lessons? Whether your students each have a TabletPC, a Surface or a Mac, this activity lends itself to eLearning (Engaged Learning).
