"I like this starter as it gives the students a lot to think about. However, I think it would be more useful if the answer showed the object and the image with a mirror line as this would give a better visual representation for the students."

"Your suggestion has been acted upon Miss Wilton. The answers now show the original too. Thanks very much."

"Year 10 and I think it would be a good idea to show the mirror line as part of the question!"

Special dotted paper might be useful for this activity. If students have access to computers then Google SketchUp would be ideal. It is a free download from http://sketchup.google.com/ and is an easy-to-learn 3D modelling program that enables you to explore the world in 3D. With just a few simple tools, you can create 3D models of houses, sheds, decks, home additions, woodworking projects - even space ships. And once you've built your models, you can place them in Google Earth.
